Echoes (1990)


 

 

In January 1988, Hollywood filmmaker Steve Muscarella optioned the film rights to Lawrence C. Connolly’s “Echoes,” a story that had originally appeared in Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone Magazine in February 1983.  The Victory Theatre of Encino, California, signed to produce the film.

Between its original publication and the release of the film, Connolly’s story remained in print by appearing in a number of retrospective anthologies, among them Year’s Best Horror Stories, HorrorStory 4, and 100 Great Short-Short Stories.

The film débuted at the Chaplin Theatre in Hollywood on June 14, 1990.

 

Steve Muscarella went on to direct for the hit television series Kirk (1995-97).

 

In 2002, Connolly’s original story was optioned again, this time by a New York production company.  The film is currently in development. 

 

The story itself has remained in print, appearing in numerous magazines and anthologies worldwide.
